Let’s talk about care & policy 📣 🫂

The kind that respects our elders and those who care for them.
Before I stepped into politics, I spent years working with seniors. As soon as I finished University, I LOVED my job being a Recreation Therapist at the Adult Recreation Therapy Centre.
I’ve also worked in a physio clinic supporting OHIP clients 65 and older as a Physiotherapy Assistant. I also had the privilege to be in the homes of those living at Norview Lodge Long Long Term Care in Simcoe.
I went to University of Waterloo & completed a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Clinical Kinesiology. But more than that, I have a deep passion for working with older adults.
Over the years, I’ve seen the gaps in our system firsthand.
I know dementia services are underfunded.
& you do not need to tell me twice that public long-term care homes are overstretched.
The workers, from nurses to PSWs to recreation therapists, and the amazing housekeeping staff … they are all treated like afterthoughts.
Our provincial government isn’t supporting them so as an MP we need to step up.
Nearly half of nurses in Ontario regularly work overtime just to keep things running. We called them heroes during the national pandemic, but what about now? They are still carrying that same weight. They deserve respect, proper staffing, and safe working conditions.
Long-term care may be under provincial jurisdiction, but the federal government has a responsibility too. As your MP, I will advocate for national standards, funding tied to quality of care, and a seniors’ care strategy that supports both residents and workers.
I will also fight for:
💚 Better federal investment in dementia research and programs
💚 Expanded public funding for long-term care with strong, enforceable care standards
💚 Fair wages and protections for healthcare workers, including paid sick days and safe staffing levels
💚More respite services so caregivers do not have to choose between burnout and survival
Caring for our elders is not just about policy. It is about listening to lived experiences.
Let’s choose compassion & dignity!
